BenchMathsEngineering calculators

Heat input

Arc energy and heat input per EN ISO 1011-1, with the thermal efficiency factor k for the process.

Parameters
Formula and source
E = U × I × 60 / (v × 1000) [kJ/mm, v in mm/min] Q = k × E

EN ISO 1011-1. For pulsed or waveform-controlled sources, use instantaneous power (ISO/TR 18491) instead of mean U × I.

Questions

Is BenchMaths free?

Yes. Creating an account is free, with Google or e-mail.

Where is my data kept?

WPS drafts, cutting and nesting lists and your company profile are stored in your account on our server, so you can open them on another device. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash.

Can I use the results as they are?

Results are engineering estimates for planning. They do not replace a qualified procedure (WPQR), the applicable standard or a check by a qualified engineer. Each calculator shows its formula and source so you can verify it.

Which files can I load?

ASCII DXF for nesting; XLSX, XLS or CSV for cut lists; PNG or JPG for your logo.

Which languages and units are supported?

English and Turkish, metric and imperial units. It works on phones, in light and dark mode.
